Applaudissement pour France!!!

My sister and me at the football match Spain - France in Hannover.

Actually I was cheering for Spain, for two reasons. Firstly they played damn good football in the last matches. And secondly the Spanish fans know how to root for their team. Wow the atmosphere in the stadium was awesome!! But after the first halftime I was dismissed by both so I decided to be neutral. And then the second halftime, wow I was so impressed by the French team, Zidane forever!! They absolutely deserved to win the game. I guess France is back for good, lets see what they will do with Brazil. :)
I really enjoyed being at a world cup match and I will never forget that!

Round of 16 Part II

Italy – Australia 1:0

Heartbreak for an Australia side who produced one of their best performances on the international stage. But credit to Italy who for standing firm when down to ten men for the majority of the second half.

Switzerland – Ukraine 0:3

Whooo, shout out for Ukraine who moved through to the quarter-finals on their first visit to the FIFA World Cup. Sad for Switzerland who did their best to win, but the penalty shoutout made the decision.

I'm gonna be at the game France - Spain in Hannover. I'm soooooo excited to finally see a match at the stadium!! So probably you will see some great pics tomorrow. :)

Round of 16

Germany – Sweden 2:0
Helped by a lightning start, the hosts produced a magnificent display of attacking football to brush past a disappointing Sweden team. I guess Germany are back for good and prepared to become world champion!!!

Argentina – Mexico 2:1
It took a world-class goal to separate these two in an otherwise evenly balanced game. Germans watch out for the Argentines, they play damn good football. I’ll gross my fingers for you!!

England – Ecuador 1:0
It was a controlled performance from England and Beckham's strike proved enough to settle a game of few chances against an Ecuador team who seemed to lack the belief to seriously threaten the opposition goal.

Portugal – Netherlands 1:0
Wow, I was shocked about this ugly match, probably one of the dirtiest in the world cup history. Portugal survived a brutal foul-fest with the Netherlands and with 16 yellow cards this was a World Cup match record too.

Day 12

Ecuador – Germany 0:3

YEAHH!!! Germany won and is also winner from Group A. Absolutely great game with really good goals from Klose. Sweden, watch out for Germany.
Eins und zwei und drei und 54, 74, 90, 2006 ja so stimmen wir alle ein, mit dem Herz in der Hand und der Leidenschaft im Bein werden wir Weltmeister sein!

Costa Rica – Poland 1:2

Sweden – England 2:2

England has still not beaten Sweden since 1968 but, they are the group winners and they will be happier to be facing next Ecuador and not Germany. Sweden's performance in the second half was much better and they deserve at least the tie.

Paraguay – Trinidad Tobago 2:0

What is Galeo and where is he coming from?

We had good games on the weekend as well. I am especially impressed from Ghana and Argentina just showed the world what damn good football they can play. And Brazil what can I say, no wonder they are one of the greatest favourites. Sadly that Côte d’Ivoire lost, was one of my favourite, besides Germany of course. :)
I am curious about Germany on Tuesday!!

Day 6

Spain – Ukraine 4:0

Great Game!
Olé! For just the second time since 1950, 12-times finalists Spain opened their FIFA World Cup campaign with a win. This was a comprehensive and impressive victory against first-timers Ukraine.

Tunisia – Saudi Arabia 2:2

Good Game!
A point a piece for Tunisia and Saudi Arabia after an exciting encounter which both sides will argue they should have won.

Germany – Poland 1:0

Great Game!! Germany forever number one :D
Germany left it as late as possible to claim the three points and Poland can count themselves unlucky after holding them at bay for so long.

Day 7

Ecuador – Costa Rica 3:0

Great Game!

The victory sees Ecuador and Germany become the first two teams assured of spots in the second round of these finals. It is a historic moment for the Ecuadorians on only their second appearance on the world stage.

England – Trinidad and Tobago 2:0

Good Game!

England took their time to see off Trinidad and Tobago, but two late goals mean that they did what they had to do.

Sweden – Paraguay 1:0

Good Game!

After a performance not dissimilar to that in their opening game, Sweden conjured up their first goal at these finals to secure their first win.

Germany watch out for Ecuador!!

Day 5

Korea Republic – Togo 2:1

Great Game!
Korea Republic chalk up their first-ever FIFA World Cup win outside of Asia with a spirited second-half fightback. Credit to first-timers Togo, though, for putting their pre-finals problems behind them to push the Koreans all the way.

France – Switzerland 0:0

Good Game!
There was once again no separating France and Switzerland as they played out a goalless draw in their opening 2006 FIFA World Cup™ match in Stuttgart. But with a point apiece, both sides will be reasonably pleased.

Brazil – Croatia 1:0

Good Game!
A winning start for the Brazilian, but they were made to fight every inch of the way by a spirited Croatian side who ensured that while Brazil functioned smoothly in parts, they were unable to relax until the final whistle.

Day 4

Australia – Japan 3:1

Great Game!
Australia showed all their fighting qualities to come back in a game in which they looked dead. Japan, who controlled the match for long periods, will be disappointed not to have added a second after squandering a number of presentable opportunities.

USA – Czech Republik 0:3

Great Game!!
The US team displayed several nice combinations in midfield throughout the match, but they struggled to translate them into clear scoring opportunities. Czech Republic, meanwhile, did not create a host of chances but they had the quality to capatilise on the ones they did make for themselves.

Italia – Ghana 2:0

Good Game!
Italy got the better of Ghana in another entertaining, free-flowing contest, but the Africans acquitted themselves extremely well in their first appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

World cup Review day 1 – 3

Actually I am not a "fußball" (football, soccer) fan and I watch football not very often. But every 4 years I am just addicted. And this year it’s in Germany, so it is even more interesting for me. I couldn’t get away from the TV on this weekend.

Day 1:

Germany – Costa Rica 4:2

Great Game!
Both Germany and Costa Rica did their best to win and to entertain the viewer. Germany made the best possible start to the finals with three points and a healthy return of four goals, but there will be questions raised about their offside tactics after being caught out twice at the back.

Poland – Ecuador 0:2

Good Game!
Ecuador produced a highly efficient team performance to deservedly take the three points in their opening game. Poland, more direct and anxious, will need to improve if they are to take something from their eagerly awaited fixture against hosts Germany.

Day 2:

England – Paraguay 1:0

Good Game!
England got the opening win they were looking for, but the performance in the second half was less than convincing. Paraguay can take heart from their battling display, though they had no reward for their efforts.

Trinidad and Tobago – Sweden 0:0

Good Game!
Competing in their first finals, Trinidad and Tobago pulled off a famous result, showing tenacity and no lack of tactical discipline to hold the more favoured Sweden to a goalless draw. Playing against ten men for virtually the entire second half, Scandinavia’s sole representatives were unable to break through.

Argentina – Côte d’Ivoire 2:1

Great Game!!
Argentina held on for a precious victory in a classic end-to-end encounter, but Côte d’Ivoire were desperately unlucky not to claim in a point in a frenetic finish.
Côte d’Ivoire was definitely the darling of the public.

Day 3:

Serbia and Montenegro – Netherlands 0:1

Good Game!
Serbia and Montenegro fought all the way but the Dutch did enough to secure a narrow and important win in this keenly contested game.

Mexico – Iran 3:1

Great Game!
Iran suffered for their late collapse as Mexico finished with a 3-1 win which was arguably harsh on Ivankovic's men.

Angola – Portugal 0:1

Good Game!
Portugal had to settle for a narrow victory where the points mattered more than the performance. Angola can take heart from a battling display, however, on their debut appearance on the world stage.
