A Mexican weekend in Nuremberg

Jorge was one of my best buddy’s during my internship in Michigan. He was also an AIESEC Trainee at Delphi. We lived only couple minutes away and sometimes Jorge surprised me with a cup of Tiramisu ice cream from the Italian Restaurant in his street. We also took a trip to Canada together where the officer at the border won’t let us pass –he was wondering why a Germany girl and a Mexican boy will visit Niagara falls-.

Since half a year Jorge works for Delphi in Germany and lives together with his girlfriend Dana. So it was a must do on my list to visit him. :)
We had a wonderful weekend with Jorge and Dana in Nuremberg with Christkindlesmarkt, Dokumentationshalle and talking about the good old Michigan times…

My summer 2007

After a really long time out of the blogging world I’m back. My summer was different to the last ones but very good. My work situation changed a little bit. I got a new project, to redesign our Corporate Design together with our advertisement company. I love this job because I can be so creative. Besides I’m now alone in my office. One of my favourite colleagues left the apartment for a new job. I really can understand him he just need a new challenge.
Then I spent a relaxing week with my boy Marko at the Baltic Sea. We cycled and hiked through the island Ruegen, enjoyed the Sea and the Beach and just had a really good time.
After our vacation week one of my most excited days this summer came, my sister arrived finally after one year in Germany. She spent her year down under, experienced Australia, had a month of vacation in New Zealand and a 2 days stopover in Singapore.
During all that time my mum and I were planning my parent’s silver wedding. And it was such a perfect day. It began with a mass where my cute little cousin took the candle and my sister and I read the lection. After that my parents rode by carriage drawn by horses to the restaurant were the silver wedding celebration took place. It was an awesome party, great food, the best weather and good mood. Next day our family vacation for one week in Austria started. Hiking in the Alps is very exhausting but so beautiful if you finally got on the top of the mountain.
The summer was so different because I wasn’t abroad at all and it was like the good old times, family celebration and vacation. I realised that it is so important to have a good relationship to your family and that Germany is also a nice place to spent vacation, I really can recommend Ruegen on the Baltic Sea.
But for next year there are some plans ahead, Reunion in March at Li’ers in London, maybe US in summer. Let’s see how it works.
And last but not least my summer 2007 was impacted by a little boy with a scar. Harry Potter, firstly the movie and then the last book finally released. The movie was as every one good but nothing comparing to the book. But the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was the best of the whole series. It was the real one and the best ending J.K. Rowling could write. It took me 4 nights to finish it. It was during our Baltic Sea vacation week so I had only the nights to read. It was pretty hard to leave the book for the days but otherwise I couldn’t enjoy the pretty island.

Dresden

I already wrote about my wonderful trip to Dresden. Here are some pics, firstly me and Sabrina in front of the Semper Oper and secondly the Zwinger at night. Dresden is one of the biggest and most famous cities in East Germany. Unfortunately because it’s in the eastern part of Germany, right on the border to Czech Republic, nobody really knows the city. So everybody out there who will travel to Germany, come to Dresden and enjoy the beauty of the historical old town as well as discover the night life at Dresden Neustadt (new town). Dresden is worthwhile for a trip and I will totally come back some times soon. Simon, thanks for the host. :D

a weekend in Erfurt...

Last but not least I had the last @Michigan visit this year. After Sandhya’s visit in May, my great weekend with Ming in Amsterdam in July and our perfect get together in Berlin with Li’er, Ming and Julia (plus Alberto, Hannes and Marko), I finally showed Julia my state Thuringia, especially the city Erfurt. It was an awesome weekend with Julia, her boy Hannes, Me, my boy Marko and later my sisters boy Martin. Don’t know the last time I went out so long, until morning…wait I did it with Sandhya, well those Americans can party hard. :)
So we met up on last Saturday morning in Erfurt and did a shopping and sightseeing tour and of course the Dom of Erfurt never missed (see picture above).

After that we went to a great Italian restaurant, because shopping and sightseeing made us hungry. Next stop a cute little bar. After some cocktails later Martin came and our real party club tour should start. And it definitely was a club tour after Club Centrum with disappointed music (mostly gothic and metal music) and Club Crazy Corner with some underground Hip Hop Battles we finally arrived at the Club1. It was actually an over 30th party thats why we went there so late but we had already enough drinks so it was fun. We danced like crazy to all these 80th and early 90th music and stayed there until 5 in the morning.

Jules hope to see you soon someday. Thanks for the great weekend!!!

What is better than a half year internship in Michigan where you meet so many great people, make friends with them and have a good time there? Meeting them all one and a half year later in Berlin and just having one of the best weekends ever!

Ming, I really enjoy every moment with you. We get along so well and sister love never ends, we definitely will meet again!!

Li’er, it was so great to see you. Keep in touch and tell me when you maybe will settle in Europe. I’ll miss you already!

Julia, I definitely had a great time with you. It’s so nice that you will be in Germany until November; we will have a chance to meet up again. Can’t wait!!

Hannes, take care of Julia while she is in Germany. Thueringen rocks!!

And of course thanks Alberto, to be the best Tour guide ever. You showed us Berlin in an interesting way!

Thanks to my sweetie for being the best boyfriend ever at this weekend!

Michigan love at the weekend

So finally I moved in my new apartment last week. It was lot of work especially with the kitchen. But we finally made it and I am so happy to have my own space!

Then within all the removal stuffs Sandhya arrived on last Thursday. I showed her my little cute town and we had a good time.

She had her first real German Döner (actually real Turkish Döner but nowadays it’s kind of German). We went to my parent’s house and there we had coffee together. Unfortunately I had a business dinner in the evening, so Sandhya was going out with my sister.

Next day we went to Erfurt (capital of my state). And there I showed her the real German night life, which means going to a club without showing the ID, drinking and dancing the whole night, going home at 6 am and seeing the sunrise. Yeah I had a lot of fun that night. Next day we went shopping and sightseeing. And Sandhya had her first Thüringer Bratwurst.

Then we headed back to my little town and met up with my cousins.

Sandhya thanks for the great weekend!! It was just like Michigan last year and it felt like I have never been away. So Ming and Julia I am waiting for you!

Some visits awaits…

I love traveling and visiting people but I also love to have visitors. Last year I traveled a lot and visit so many friends. And this year it looks like I will be the one who will welcome some good friends. First of all Uli and his family, the farmer from Namibia who guided us through Namibia’s beautiful countryside and fantastic wildlife, will visit us next week. Thank you so much for showing us the real Namibian culture!
We can’t wait to see you and show you our life. :)

Stuck in the snow

Last weekend me, my sister and my boy were driving by car to Dresden, just to have a last cool Advent weekend including Weihnachtsoratorium (Christmas concert) and drinking Glühwein at the Christmas market.

But before we could do this awesome things we were stuck at the Auobahn for like 5 hours. I really like snow but this was absolutly fucked up!! Anyway, we finally arrived in Dresden and the concert was over. :( But instead of we drunk a lot of Glühwein at the Christmas market so we had a good time in another way. :) And the Glühwein was so good!!
Li'er, Ming do you remember my Glühwein cooking at your house on last Christmas? So yummi :) and probably everybody can imagine drinking a hot strong wine...

Hehe Christmas is coming...

Dresden and a surprising phonecall

actually I wanted to post some cool experiences from my weekend. because I went with my sister and a friend to dresden. and dresden is definitely worth for a report!! it's probably the most beautiful city in east germany. we just went to dresden for a concert from "söhne mannheims" which is a german band. I can't discribe the style of these group, because it's a mix of a singer with a soul voice (soooo good!!!), two rap singer, it has also a lot of rock influence... the songs are full of pensiveness, about life, about god, about the government and certainly about love. and after the concert as we saw how great dresden is we decided to stay overnight and did some fun stuffs. and I have to say this last thing about dresden: it's such a friendly city with so much cultural possessions.

don't know why I am writing this because I wanted to post something completely different. because guessed who was calling me on yesterday...yes mingzhang from AIESEC MI!!! I was so happy to hear her voice! and ming you know what I am missing you so much!!! have fun in india and enjoy having your nick back. :)
hope to hear from you or see you soon!

I think I will be finishing work, weather is just too nice to work. :)

Berlin!!!

another weekend that was just there to enjoy life and to get new experience.

BERLIN!! wow I love this city more and more, even so I was only 4 times there. probably you think, what is she talking about, she is from Germany and is living there. but I am living 4 hours from Berlin and I know this is not very far if you know the long distances in the US...

anyway, my cousin is doing an internship there and I took this chance to visit her. so I was spending my last weekend with my cousin, her boyfriend, her sister with boyfriend and another friend of her in Berlin. we had an absolutely awesome time. my cousin is living in Eastberlin so we went out on friday night in east. it was full of atmosphere. then saturday Berlin City shopping, sightseeing and visiting the sea life aquaria. in the evening going west. this means Westberlin, very fancy area. we went to a spanish restaurant, yummi.

I will tell you why I love Berlin. Berlin is a very international, differential, busy, fun and alive city. there is just everything in Berlin.
